Refugio ISD had the highest enrollment among Refugio County districts, with 656 students during the 2024-25 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.
Of all students enrolled in the 2024-25 school year, 52.1% were boys, and 47.9% were girls.
Data also showed that most of the students were Hispanic, representing 69.7% of the Refugio ISD total enrollment.
Among the three districts in Refugio County, Woodsboro ISD ranked second in enrollment numbers with 400 students, while Austwell-Tivoli ISD enrolled 141 students and ranked third in the 2024-25 school year.
Refugio ISD roughly covers schools within Refugio County with its main office in Refugio.
In the previous school year, Refugio ISD also had the largest number of students among Refugio County districts.
Texas has the nation’s second-largest K-12 public school system, serving about 5.5 million students with a student-to-teacher ratio of roughly 15:1.
