Rockport Medicaid payments under state agency national codes surge 53% in 2024

In 2024, Medicaid providers in Rockport reported $174,336 in claims for services classified within the National Codes Established for State Medicaid Agencies, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Medicaid Provider Spending database. This was a 52.9% rise compared with 2023, when $114,019 in claims were filed in the same category.

Medicaid is run by individual states and receives funding from both federal and state governments. The program serves low-income people and families, the elderly, children, and individuals with disabilities, and is considered one of the largest components of the U.S. health care system.

Since Medicaid funding is sourced from taxpayers, shifts in local Medicaid billing highlight how health care funding is distributed in each community.

The “National Codes Established for State Medicaid Agencies” group categorizes services as defined by type of care, using standardized HCPCS and CPT code groups. All billing codes in this analysis were listed under one service category with consistent code groupings, enabling analysis of related services over time while preventing double counting and preserving accuracy in service rankings.

Although overall Medicaid spending grew across several categories, in Rockport, National Codes Established for State Medicaid Agencies finished as the second-largest Medicaid payment category for 2024.

At the Texas state level, the National Codes Established for State Medicaid Agencies also came in second for total Medicaid payments during 2024.

From five years prior to 2024, Rockport’s Medicaid payments designated for this category rose by $86,818—or 33.2%. Certain periods saw sharper growth, with significant annual increases observed during 2020 and 2021.
