Victoria College issued the following announcement on Jan. 15
A Millwright Level 1/2 Combo Course will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 10-June 15 from 6 to 10 p.m. The course will offer introductory and intermediate millwright study; orientation to the trade; training in millwright hand and power tools, fasteners and anchors; familiarity with gaskets and O-rings; intermediate trade math; field sketching; intermediate blueprint reading; and introduction to bearings. Students must first successfully complete the mandatory “Core Curriculum: Introductory Craft Skills” class. The cost for the course is $1,300 and includes all materials.
Millwright Level 3 will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 11-May 7 from 6 to 10 p.m. The course will provide advanced millwright study and trade math; training with precision measuring tools; training in installing packing, seals and mechanical seals; removing and installing bearings; fabricating shims; installing belt and chain drives; and installing fans and blowers. Students must first successfully complete Millwright Level 2. The cost for the course is $900 and includes all materials.
Both Millwright classes will be held in Room 225 of the Industrial Training Center at VC’s Emerging Technology Complex.
VC will also offer Pipefitting Level 3 on Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 17-May 13 from 6 to 10 p.m. at VC’s Liberty Street Industrial Training Center. The intermediate course will provide study in piping systems; rigging equipment, practices, standards and specifications; advanced trade math; introduction to aboveground pipe installation; field routing and vessel trim; and testing piping systems and equipment. Students must first successfully complete Pipefitting Level 2. The cost for the course is $800 and includes all materials.
