Twenty Texas priorities advocated for by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) passed through the Senate in late 2020 as part of the omnibus funding bill.
"Texans will be safer form future storms with the authorization of these projects," Cornyn said in a press release. "From studying flood risk to fortifying levees to improving ship channels, all Texans stand to benefit from the high priority infrastructure projects included in this bill."
Some of the Senator's priorities in the Water Resources Development Act of 2020 included: authorization of the Houston Ship Channel Expansion Improvement Project; authorization of project modifications to the Houston-Galveston Navigation Channels project; expedited completion of the Buffalo Bayou feasibility study for flood risk management; authorization of project modifications for the Port of Corpus Christi Channel Improvement project; and expedited completion of the Lower Rio Grand River feasibility study for flood risk management, ecosystem restoration and water supply.
