There were 13,246 students enrolled in Victoria ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, a slight decrease from the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.4% of them were boys, and 48.6% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 67.8% of the Victoria ISD total enrollment.

Victoria ISD roughly covers schools within Victoria County with its main office in Victoria.

Among the 27 schools in Victoria ISD, Victoria East High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,845 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
