There were 48 white students enrolled in Austwell-Tivoli ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 33.3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Austwell-Tivoli ISD schools welcomed 144 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 33.3% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Austwell-Tivoli ISD roughly covers schools within Refugio County and has a main office in Tivoli.

Among the two schools in Austwell-Tivoli ISD schools, Austwell-Tivoli Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 33 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
