There were 35 American Indian students enrolled in Victoria ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, the same number as the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Victoria ISD schools welcomed 13,246 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.3% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Victoria ISD roughly covers schools within Victoria County and has a main office in Victoria.

Among the 27 schools in Victoria ISD schools, Victoria East High School recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of four students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
