Refugio County schools enroll 63 gifted and talented students in the 2020-2021 school year

Test 17

Refugio County schools enrolled 63 students who were identified as being gifted and talented during the 2020-2021 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

This is an 18.2% decrease from the previous school year.

Of the 1,247 students enrolled in Refugio County schools, 5.1% of them were considered to be gifted and talented.

Refugio County enrolled the 68th lowest number of gifted and talented students among Texas counties.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
