Tidehaven ISD welcomed 1,010 students in 2021-22 school year

There were 1,010 students enrolled in Tidehaven ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 5.8% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52.2% of them were boys, and 47.8% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 54.4% of the Tidehaven ISD total enrollment.

Tidehaven ISD roughly covers schools within Matagorda County with its main office in El Maton.

Among the four schools in Tidehaven ISD, Blessing Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 263 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
