Enrollment Analysis: Hispanic students comprised 57.6% of George West ISD schools' student body in 2021-22 school year

There were 597 Hispanic students enrolled in George West ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 0.8% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that George West ISD schools welcomed 1,036 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 57.6% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

George West ISD roughly covers schools within Live Oak County and has a main office in George West.

Among the four schools in George West ISD schools, George West Primary School recorded the highest enrollment of Hispanic students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of 227 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
