Palacios ISD welcomed 1,300 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 1,300 students enrolled in Palacios ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.7% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.5% of them were boys, and 48.5% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 72.6% of the Palacios ISD total enrollment.

Palacios ISD roughly covers schools within Matagorda County with its main office in Palacios.

Among the four schools in Palacios ISD, Palacios High School recorded the highest enrollment of 383 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
