Enrollment Analysis: American Indian students comprised 0.5% of George West ISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were five American Indian students enrolled in George West ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, the same number as the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that George West ISD schools welcomed 1,083 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.5% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

George West ISD roughly covers schools within Live Oak County and has a main office in George West.

Among the four schools in George West ISD schools, George West Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of two students.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
